Inaugural National Donor Day Symposium

Join us for our Inaugural National Donor Day Symposium on Feb. 14th2017!

Symposium Program

The demand for organ transplants in the U.S. is estimated to outweigh the supply by a factor of 5 to 1.  One of the major contributors to this problem is the fact that medium and long-term storage strategies for donor tissues and organs are lacking.  Kidneys must be transplanted within 36 hours and hearts and livers have an even shorter window of viability.  Scientists at UNC Charlotte are joining together with stakeholders in the region to explore the many ways in which we can close the gap between organ availability and demand, and to advance upon a solution.   We hope that you can join us for this very special event.
